Short answer
WinkBeds' FAQ doesn't mention steam and gives no cleaning method. It says a protective pad, 'While certainly not required,' can keep the mattress 'clean and stain-free,' and that the warranty 'does not cover normal wear and tear, comfort preference changes, or damage due to misuse, spills, or improper support.' Our dry-vapor method is our own, not a WinkBeds exemption; check your warranty terms first.
Key terms used on this page
- Care instructions (manufacturer care guidance):
- What a manufacturer publishes about cleaning its product: a sewn-in label, a care web page, a help-center article or a brand blog post. They carry different weight. A sewn-in label or a product-care page speaks for a specific product; a blog post often gives general advice about many mattress types. On this hub we name the document type for every quote.
- Hybrid mattress:
- A mattress that combines a coil support core with substantial comfort layers of foam, latex or another material on top. What applies to a hybrid depends on what sits under the cover: the coils below or the foam or latex above.
- Warranty exclusion:
- A condition a manufacturer says its warranty does not cover. Purple, for example, says 'damage from the sun is excluded from warranty coverage,' and Tempur UK says soaking 'will also invalidate your guarantee.' Only the manufacturer can decide a claim.
- Dry-vapor steam:
- Steam made in a sealed, pressurized boiler and released through a hose and nozzle as hot vapor with a low liquid-water content. In the vendor specifications we reviewed, professional units are rated from 80 psi (Ladybug 2350) to 150 psi (Daimer), with stated boiler temperatures from about 345°F (Optima) to 360°F (Daimer); these are maker claims. Daimer describes its steam as about 5% water or less and Vapor Clean claims 'just 5-6% moisture'; that is a vendor claim, not an independent standard.
- Adjustable steam output:
- A control on some commercial steam machines that sets how much steam reaches the tool. For example, Vapor Clean describes its Magnum XP (with vac) as having a 'Fully Adjustable Steam Regulator' and a 'Pressure Regulator 0 - Full Range' (maker's claims). We don't publish settings; the technician chooses them for the material.
- Pass speed:
- How fast the steam tool moves across the fabric. A faster pass gives the fabric less time under the tool, so less heat and less condensed water reach any one spot. Purple's general guide makes the same point for home steamers: move 'without leaving it in one spot for too long.'
WinkBeds sells hybrid mattresses with a lifetime limited warranty. Its FAQ has a Mattress Care section, but it gives no cleaning method and doesn't mention steam. The most relevant line is in the warranty answer: damage from spills is not covered.
Not affiliated with or endorsed by any manufacturer listed. Brand names are used only to identify products and their published care instructions.
1. What the manufacturer actually says
The source is WinkBeds' FAQ page (no date shown; accessed 2 October 2026).
The care answer sits under "Mattress Care" and the warranty answer under "How does the lifetime warranty work?"
On protection:
"While certainly not required, a protective pad can help keep your mattress clean and stain-free."
On the warranty:
"Note: This warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, comfort preference changes, or damage due to misuse, spills, or improper support."
2. Does it mention steam?
No. The FAQ doesn't mention steam and doesn't describe any cleaning method. We found no official WinkBeds cleaning instructions on the page we quote.
3. Does it mention dry-vapor steam?
No. WinkBed's page never names dry-vapor steam. It sets no water, heat or chemical limits either.
4. The restrictions it states
| Variable | What WinkBed's page says |
|---|---|
| Water | Not stated; warranty excludes "damage due to misuse, spills, or improper support" |
| Soaking | Not stated |
| Heat | Not stated |
| Steam | Not stated |
| Chemicals | Not stated |
| Covers | Not stated |
The spill exclusion is the only moisture-related line. It is a warranty term, not a cleaning instruction, but it tells owners where the risk sits.
Every brand's restrictions sit side by side in the compatibility guide.
5. How dry vapor differs from wet cleaning
WinkBeds doesn't state a cleaning concern, but its warranty excludes spill damage, so liquid is the risk to owners.
Dry vapor leaves far less water than carpet-style extraction, but heat and moisture are separate variables.
Vapor Clean claims the Magnum XP runs at "just 5-6% moisture" (maker's claim, not our measurement).
The EPA advises drying wet materials within 24 to 48 hours; the hub's drying note explains why.
6. Sleep Sanitation's professional interpretation
This section is our view, not WinkBed's.
WinkBed's guidance is the default for owners: a protective pad, and keeping spills off the bed because the warranty doesn't cover spill damage.
Our position: we can sanitize WinkBed mattresses (the CDC's sense, not disinfection). Because WinkBeds' warranty excludes spill damage, on a WinkBed we keep moisture to the fabric surface with quick, light passes and no liquids of any kind.
We run three Italian-made Vapor Clean machines, the Magnum XP, ProV 350 and Pro6 Duo, at low steam output.
Passes stay quick and light. We don't unzip covers, soak the bed, or use bleach or solvents.
This is our method, not a WinkBed exemption, and WinkBed hasn't reviewed it. Check your warranty terms before booking.
WinkBeds' FAQ says its warranty does not cover damage due to misuse, spills, or improper support.
Not legal advice; if you're unsure, ask the manufacturer.
WinkBed's own cleaning routine
- Protective pad. Optional, to keep the mattress "clean and stain-free."
- Avoid spills. Spill damage is excluded from the warranty.
- Ask WinkBeds. For any cleaning method, since the FAQ gives none.
Other care points on WinkBed's page
On rotation:
"To elongate the life of your mattress and make sure the foams break in evenly, we recommend rotating your mattress every two weeks for the first three months, then every 2 months thereafter."
On the cover:
"Each mattress features a breathable, moisture-wicking Tencel® cover derived from eucalyptus, which is softer and cooler than cotton."
Before a visit to a WinkBed bed
WinkBeds says almost nothing about cleaning method, but its warranty is clear that liquid damage and stains are excluded. That makes the protector the brand's practical answer, and it makes keeping water out of the bed the priority on any visit.
The cover is Tencel, which the brand calls moisture-wicking. A wicking fabric pulls moisture along the surface, so our technician keeps passes short and overlapping rather than lingering, and lets the cover flash off before the next section.
WinkBeds sells innerspring, memory foam and latex models under one name. The law label tells you which you have, and that is what we set output for.
The WinkBeds FAQ says a protective pad is "certainly not required," but it can help keep the mattress "clean and stain-free." Given the warranty's spill exclusion, we'd treat a protector as cheap insurance.
WinkBeds also asks owners to rotate the bed often during the first three months, then every two months. A visit fits neatly after a rotation, so the surface we treat is the one that has done the most work.
If there's a stain from an old spill, tell us roughly how old it is and whether anything was used on it. The FAQ names no cleaner, so we don't add one.
The FAQ's warranty answer also names improper support as an exclusion, alongside misuse and spills. While the bed is stripped for a visit, it's worth checking the base, because a support problem is one of the few things the warranty language puts on the owner.
WinkBeds describes the Tencel cover as breathable, and breathability helps after a visit: moisture leaves the surface faster when the bed is uncovered. We leave it bare until it feels dry to the hand, and in a humid room we suggest a fan rather than a heater.
Common misreadings
"A lifetime warranty covers anything." The FAQ says it does not cover "damage due to misuse, spills, or improper support."
"Not mentioned means permitted." No. WinkBed doesn't mention steam either way. Silence is a gap in the guidance, not a permission.
How WinkBed compares with the other brands we checked
WinkBed is not among the five brands whose care pages mention steam. None of the 21 pages we checked mentions dry vapor.
WinkBed's page addresses none of the six variables in section 4; it is silent on water, soaking, heat, steam, chemicals and covers.
It says nothing about water, which puts it among the thinnest pages we read.
The compatibility guide lines up all 21 pages, from Tempur-Pedic's strict water rule to the brands that tie care to warranty.
Your label and warranty
Your sewn-in label speaks for your model and outranks WinkBed's web page. Use the hub's label checklist before any cleaning.
Where this fits
- Materials: hybrid, pillow-top.
- Related brands: Helix and Saatva; the full table is in the compatibility guide.
- Visits: read our process, check pricing, or schedule a visit.

- Tempur-Pedic (US). "TEMPUR® material should never become wet" (Tempur-Pedic).
- Saatva. "If you have a garment steam cleaner, go over your mattress with that before vacuuming" (Saatva).
- Avocado. "Steam cleaners are not recommended because their excessive heat can over-bake the organic latex" (Avocado).
