Short answer
Blot as much as you can right away, don't pour water on it, and treat the spot lightly with an enzyme cleaner. Futon padding soaks up urine fast, so odor often comes back. Our cleaning includes enzyme treatment, and normal accidents are included.

HEPA vacuuming, enzyme treatment for organic odor, dry vapor steam and UV-C. We recommend cleaning twice a year.
Futon padding is thick and absorbent, so urine sinks in fast.
Right away
- Blot, pressing with dry towels. Don't rub.
- Don't soak it. Extra water spreads urine deeper (DIY mattress cleaning mistakes).
- Use an enzyme cleaner lightly on the spot, then blot again.
- Wash the cover if its tag says washable.
If the smell comes back
That means urine reached the padding. For the full approach, see the mattress accidents hub, urine in memory foam and cat urine.
