Cleaning by mattress type: memory foam, latex, hybrid, pillow-top and covers

Every mattress type has its own care label, but they share one rule: keep water out of the core. This hub covers type-by-type cleaning, mattress covers, toppers and how to tell what you have.

Monday–Friday, 9am–6pm. Missed a call? We return calls and texts on Saturday and Sunday too.

Short answer

Start with the care label. Vacuum, blot spills and spot clean lightly. Never soak foam or latex, and wash a cover only if its tag says it's removable and washable. Tempur-Pedic, for example, says its material should never become wet. For stains, odor and accidents, book a low-moisture professional clean twice a year. The first mattress is $199 Fall 2026 special (regularly $249), any size, and stains and normal accidents are included.

Memory foam, latex, hybrid and pillow-top mattresses are built differently (mattress materials hub), but cleaning them comes down to the same few rules: read the label, keep water out of the core, and don't unzip a cover the maker says to leave on (fire barriers and fiberglass).

For brand-by-brand notes, see the brand compatibility hub, including Tempur-Pedic, latex and hybrid mattresses.
