Short answer
Only if the tag allows it, and only on the setting it gives. Tempur-Pedic, for example, recommends a cool setting, says air-drying is best and warns against over-drying. Too much heat can shrink a fitted cover so it won't go back on the mattress.

Tempur-Pedic: "a cool setting for machine drying. Air-drying is best. Do not 'over-dry' the cover" (Tempur-Pedic). PlushBeds says not to machine wash or dry clean its covers at all (PlushBeds).
Why it matters
A mattress cover is cut to fit tightly. Shrink it, and it won't zip back on.
The simpler option
Leave the cover on, vacuum it, and let us clean it in place with low-moisture dry vapor steam. Use a protector you can wash and dry on its own label settings.
