Short answer
Rust marks usually mean moisture reached metal: coils inside, or a frame or bed rail underneath. Fix the moisture, then have the stain treated. Rust is a mineral stain, not organic, so enzymes don't remove it. Stains are included in every visit.

HEPA vacuuming, enzyme treatment for organic odor, dry vapor steam and UV-C. We recommend cleaning twice a year.
Rust is iron oxide. On a mattress it usually traces back to inner coils or the metal frame meeting moisture (mattress coils and rust).
What to do right away
- Find the source. Check the frame, rails and the side facing them.
- Dry the area and keep the mattress off damp surfaces (why the underside gets damp).
- Vacuum loose flakes.
- Keep it light. Work with a barely damp cloth; never pour liquid on a mattress.
What not to do
Don't soak the area or leave it on a damp surface. For the general rules, see DIY mattress cleaning mistakes and the stain chemistry hub.
