Short answer
Blot immediately, dab with a little mild detergent on a damp cloth, and work from the outside in. Dye sets fast, so speed matters. Stains are included in every Sleep Sanitation visit.

HEPA vacuuming, enzyme treatment for organic odor, dry vapor steam and UV-C. We recommend cleaning twice a year.
Hair dye is designed to bond with protein, so it bonds to fibers fast.
What to do right away
- Blot, don't rub. Press a dry white cloth on the spot to lift what's still on the surface.
- Dab with mild detergent on a cloth, outside in.
- Rinse-blot with a clean damp cloth.
- Keep it light. Work with a barely damp cloth; never pour liquid on a mattress.
What not to do
Don't rub it outward or flood it with water, which spreads the dye. For the general rules, see DIY mattress cleaning mistakes and the stain chemistry hub.
