Short answer
Blot it, then dab, not rub, with a cloth lightly moistened with rubbing alcohol, working from the outside in so the ink doesn't spread. Test a hidden spot first. Ink is a dye, not a protein, so enzymes alone won't lift it. Stains are included in every Sleep Sanitation visit.

HEPA vacuuming, enzyme treatment for organic odor, dry vapor steam and UV-C. We recommend cleaning twice a year.
Ink is a dye carried in oil or solvent. That puts it in a different family from protein stains like blood (which enzyme for which stain).
What to do right away
- Blot, don't rub. Press a dry white cloth on the spot to lift what's still on the surface.
- Test first. Dab rubbing alcohol on a hidden spot of the ticking.
- Dab from the outside in with a cloth lightly moistened with alcohol, switching to a clean area of the cloth often.
- Keep it light. Work with a barely damp cloth; never pour liquid on a mattress.
What not to do
Don't scrub, which spreads the ink, and don't soak the spot. For the general rules, see DIY mattress cleaning mistakes and the stain chemistry hub.
