Natural materials, careful handling
Avocado mattresses typically combine Dunlop latex, wool and an organic cotton cover. Hybrid models add pocketed coils. Latex is springy and breathable. Wool helps regulate temperature and moisture. Cotton is soft but water-spots easily. All three hold up best when they're kept from soaking.
What does Avocado's care guidance say?
Avocado's help center says "Steam cleaners are not recommended because their excessive heat can over-bake the organic latex." It also says "Water is not harmful to organic latex," warns against strong solvents and bleach, and says not to remove the ticking. It doesn't mention dry vapor steam. Following that guidance is the safe default; our adjustable-output method is our own decision, not an Avocado exemption, so check your warranty terms first. What we do differently
- No added detergents or fragrances in the standard service.
- Controlled distance and steady passes, so the wool and cotton aren't over-wet.
- Extra time on the tufts. Avocado mattresses are hand-tufted, and each tuft is a small pocket where debris collects.
- Toppers included when you have one. We can treat the mattress and its topper on the same visit.
After treatment
Natural fibers breathe well. The bed stays unmade until it is dry to the touch, and we run a moisture check before we leave. Give the wool comfort layer time to air out before you put an encasement or protector back on.
Care between visits
An organic cotton protector keeps the mattress in line with why you bought it. Wash it regularly and air the mattress on dry days. Blot spills and don't scrub.
