Pocketed coils, foam on top
Most Beautyrest mattresses use a pocketed coil core, with each spring wrapped in its own fabric sleeve, under layers of foam or fiber. Hybrids add thicker foam, and pillow-top versions add a plush layer sewn on top. The coils are there for support. What you actually sleep on, and what collects skin flakes, sweat and dust, is the top few inches.
What does Beautyrest's care guidance say?
Beautyrest's cleaning article doesn't mention steam, but it says "We do not recommend applying liquids to the mattress" because "Moisture or chemicals applied directly to the mattress can cause premature breakdown of the foam and damage the product." How we treat a Beautyrest
- Check the tier. The law tag and model name tell us how deep the comfort layers are and what the cover is made of.
- Top surface first. Slow, overlapping dry vapor steam passes across the whole sleep surface.
- Edges and handles. Beautyrest borders often have handles and vent panels, and we detail around them.
- Pillow-top seam. Treated separately on pillow-top and euro-top models.
- HEPA vacuuming and UV-C light treatment. A mattress vacuum lifts the loosened debris, then the surface gets UV-C light treatment.
Hybrid breathability
Coil hybrids breathe better than all-foam mattresses, which helps them dry quickly after low-moisture treatment. The bed stays unmade until it is dry to the touch, and we run a moisture check before we leave.
Keep it fresh
A breathable protector, weekly hot-washed sheets and regular rotation go a long way. When there's an accident, our urine accident treatment, included in the mattress price, targets the affected area.
